Xie Feng
Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the United States

His Excellency Xie Feng is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the United States of America. He assumed office in May 2023 upon his arrival in Washington, DC. He has previously served as China’s top diplomatic envoy to the Republic of Indonesia (2014-2017), and as the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (2017-2021).

Most recently, he was Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the two years spanning 2021-2023. Prior to his ambassadorship to the United States, Ambassador Xie had undertaken two diplomatic postings in Washington, DC: the first posting as Counselor and Spokesperson (2000-2003), and the second as Deputy Chief of Mission (2008-2010). He has more than two decades of experience working in the U.S.-China relationship.
